Music in Color
Welcome to Sweet With All Music, a project translating my paintings of music into stunning, one-of-a-kind carpets, dyed and woven using traditional methods in Morocco.
The carpets created here are the first of their kind, each based on the harmonic pattern of a single musical work. From the baroque era, to American folk music, to Pearl Jam, these carpets carry musical patterns from diverse sources and deep wells of inspiration.
New Patterns for Traditional Weaving
The Moroccan art of weaving has a centuries-old tradition. The texture of each carpet tells a story, woven with the colors of Moroccan landscapes. The materials, wool or natural fiber, are hand-dyed before weaving. The carpets in this project are traditionally hand-woven by a single weaver, Atika, in Oued Zem.
